Sonal Tejani-Shah Wedding Photos October 2000

In describing the photos Sonal explained..... ' In these pictures I am wearing a sari, which is 9 yards of fabric which is folded and pleated in place. As American brides wear white, in India the auspicious color is red. The reason we were barefoot is because whenever you enter a temple or some sort of holy place, you take your shoes off in Indian culture. The flowers were strewn around as part of the ceremony. The priest had been throwing them at us. It was actually a lot of fun for both of us. I did not understand the majority of what was going on as it was a very traditional ceremony.'
